Child Life Program
CMF pioneered the Child Life Program to help children and their families better cope with the hospital experience. For both inpatients and outpatients, highly-trained Child Life Specialists aim to minimize the stress associated with illness or injury.
From the Clown Care Unit and Pet Therapy to the renowned Heather On Earth Music Therapy program, the Child Life Program helps make Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of NY a better and more comfortable place for children.
As part of the program, each floor at the hospital now has a designated room where children are free to be children and no medical procedures or check-ups are performed.
